(一)基本資料

One of my favorite courses is the Japanese Element 1001-1002, the professor, Takamasa Nagai, is a brilliant lecturer with a sense of humor, during the section, he used everything he could come up with to help us memorize the vocabularies and kanjis. Some of the colleagues are going to Japan for one-year exchange, and there is a professor from CS, Andrew-san, and we had similar interests, so we got to know each other in a short-term. We spent 3 hours twice in a week, and Nagai sensei had always reminded us to listen to the sound file and repeat with it, that would correct the accent and pronunciation, it was difficult for me at the beginning, since we used English to learn Japanese and I could not memorize the vocabularies, and I often stuttered during the class, but then I followed sensei's advice to go to the library and study with Japanese students, and practice speaking using sound file, and finally I overcame it and got flying colors.(167字)

It is convenient to live on campus because there is post office, convenient store, food trucks, grocery store, and subway station, and I usually went to the library to search for information and to meet the language lecturer of Japanese, and if the weather was not ideal, I would search on the website of library. And there is a sport field on-campus, and I usually trained wrestling there since I joined the wrestling club, after that, I would have workout to strengthen the muscle and stamina. The weather was usually fine, but it was freezing in winter, and it did snow, the food was good, I personally prefer Lorenzo and Sons pizza, and also tacos, the dormitory was fine and comfortable, I could get to the subway station by walking for 2 minutes. And my friends and I went to watch sport games.(142字)

(四)自我成長

【照片說明:It was hard to find location.】

At first, I did not know how to communicate with local residents and I merely showed confidence to freely express myself, but after making some friends in college, I found some strategies, for instance, if it was not very clear, I can say "Can you repeat for me?", and say "Have a good day!" or "Thank you!" to end a conversation. During the class, it was quite busy, and professors sometimes did not have time to solve all of the questions we had, and once I got a chance to ask, I usually stuttered, and it was bothering a lot, after that, I changed it to solving all of the questions after class, and that helped. When it comes to making friends, it was difficult, since I have different cultural background, but I usually caught people's attention by mentioning animes and comics, so they would like to share their thoughts with me. (五)大三出國建議

I recommend being open-minded and confident to make socializing less daunting. Having a strategy for initiating conversations can make it easier. Don't be disheartened if people lose patience with you; many are like this, so be prepared for negative reactions. Conversely, seek out those willing to assist, like Andrew from my Japanese class. Despite our age and cultural differences, we share many common interests. If you can resolve most issues independently, refrain from seeking help, as this is how problem-solving skills are honed. Don't worry about your one-year trip; everyone feels the same way. Plan your schedule carefully, allowing time for adjustment. Lastly, engage with locals whenever possible. They've interacted with diverse cultures and will have perspectives different from yours, which, when combined with your own, could greatly benefit your career. Being open-minded and confident is essential for navigating social situations with ease. It's helpful to have a strategy for initiating conversations, as it can alleviate some of the initial anxiety. However, it's important to remain resilient in the face of negative reactions; not everyone will be receptive, but that is fine. Seek support from individuals like Andrew, who are willing to assist despite differences in age or background. Independence is valuable, but don't hesitate to seek help, when necessary, as it fosters growth and learning. Embrace the uncertainties of a one-year trip and plan your schedule thoughtfully to allow for adaptation. Engaging with locals offers invaluable insights and perspectives that can enrich both your personal and professional life. By combining their experiences with your own, you can cultivate a broader worldview and enhance your career prospects.(267字)
