Studying at Temple University in Philadelphia has been an enriching experience, but it has also presented several challenges that I had to overcome. The first obstacle was adapting to the local climate. Philadelphia experiences a full range of seasons, from hot, humid summers to cold, snowy winters. Coming from a milder climate, I initially found it difficult to adjust, especially during the winter months. I learned to dress in layers, invest in quality winter gear, and prepare myself mentally for the changes in weather. Over time, I became more resilient and even began to appreciate the beauty of the changing seasons. The cultural differences were another challenge. Philadelphia is a diverse city with a rich history and a unique urban culture. Initially, I felt a bit out of place, but I made a conscious effort to immerse myself in the local culture. I attended community events, visited historical landmarks, and engaged with local residents. This helped me better understand and appreciate the city’s cultural diversity and made me feel more connected to my new environment. Academically, the transition to the rigorous coursework at Temple University was demanding. The expectations were high, and the workload was intense. To manage this, I developed effective study habits, sought help from professors and peers, and utilized campus resources like tutoring centers and libraries. I also learned the importance of time management, balancing my academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities and personal time. By facing these challenges head-on, I have grown both personally and academically.
