One of my favorite classes at Sacramento State was Cloud Computing, taught by Professor Mamoun. I took this class this semester, and it truly changed my perspective on Computer Science. Professor Mamoun made the world of technology seem simple and easy to understand, even for someone like me who initially found it challenging. His approach to teaching was not only clear but also engaging. What made Professor Mamoun stand out was his personality. He is funny and charismatic, which made the class enjoyable. Moreover, he made a genuine effort to get to know his students, ensuring that his teachings aligned with our future needs as Computer Science students. This personalized approach significantly enhanced my learning experience and made me feel more connected to the subject matter. Another aspect I appreciated about the Cloud Computing course was its flexibility. Although it required a lot of self-motivation and self-study, having the right teacher made all the difference. Professor Mammoun's guidance and support helped me stay on track and fully grasp the concepts being taught. His ability to break down complex topics into manageable pieces was invaluable. The course structure encouraged independent learning, which I found to be a crucial skill for my future career. It pushed me to develop better study habits and manage my time effectively. Despite the challenges, the satisfaction of understanding and applying the concepts was incredibly rewarding.(229字)

I was fortunate enough to live in one of the campus dormitories, The American River Courtyard, at Sacramento State. I'm very grateful to have met incredible roommates whom I now consider lifelong friends. As an international student, their warm welcome and encouragement helped me have the best American experience possible. The dorm building itself is quite safe, especially considering some of the sketchier areas of Sacramento. The committee worked hard to provide us with a comfortable living space. The dormitory has many study areas where my roommates and I would often study late into the night. Additionally, they sometimes organized mini-events to liven up the atmosphere. For example, near finals week, they provided us with free snacks and drinks, which was quite refreshing. Fortunately, the dorms include meal plans, so I would eat at the dining halls. There are also markets nearby for late-night snacks or drinks. This convenience made living on campus even more enjoyable and stress-free. One of my favorite aspects of Sacramento State is their gymnasium. They have created an incredible fitness culture and truly value students' mental health. The gym, called The Well, is very large and well-equipped with everything you could need for a workout. My roommates and I would work out there together, and it was always a great time. In conclusion, living in The American River Courtyard at Sacramento State has been a wonderful experience. The safety and comfort of the dorm, the supportive community, and the convenient amenities have made my time there truly enjoyable. I am grateful for the experiences and friendships I have made, and I will always cherish my time living on campus.(274字)

Truthfully, the experience was fairly manageable for me, given that I had been exposed to American culture through movies and other media. This prior exposure had prepared me for what to expect. However, one of the challenges I faced at the beginning of my exchange program was adapting to the food. I struggled with eating pizza and burgers daily, but fortunately, the dormitory dining hall occasionally provided authentic Asian cuisine. During instances of culture shock, my advice is to embrace the experience fully. It is easy to remain in your comfort zone, but it is beneficial to challenge yourself and step into uncomfortable situations. Regardless of whether the outcome is positive or negative, it will become a memorable experience for you.(121字)

It's true that experiences often come with a price tag, but there's a famous saying: "Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money, but you cannot get more time." This wisdom highlights the importance of seizing the moment and embracing new adventures, even if they require financial investment. For anyone considering diving into a different culture, educational system, or lifestyle beyond Taiwan, my advice is to go for it. Sure, it might stretch your budget, but the experiences gained are priceless. Stepping out of your comfort zone opens doors to invaluable insights, personal growth, and unforgettable memories. Choosing to commit to a longer timeframe, like a full academic year instead of just a semester, has its perks. While a shorter stint might give you a taste of life abroad, a year-long journey allows for deeper immersion. You'll have more time to adapt, explore, and truly soak in the local culture. Plus, the extended stay offers ample opportunities for self-discovery and building lasting connections. Looking back on my own adventure at Sacramento State, I have no regrets. Despite the initial challenges, every moment was worth it. The experiences I gained, the people I met, and the lessons I learned have become an integral part of who I am. And I know, without a doubt, that these memories will stay with me for a lifetime.(226字)

During my time abroad, I had the opportunity to explore more than just Sacramento. I ventured to San Diego and Seattle during my winter break, each destination offering its own unique charm and experiences. San Diego, with its picturesque beaches and welcoming atmosphere, left a lasting impression on me. Despite only spending two days there, I was captivated by the beauty of the coastline and the warmth of the locals. One of the highlights of my visit was witnessing the arrival of numerous sea lions, a spectacle I was fortunate enough to witness. Additionally, exploring the city around Christmas time provided insight into its rich Hispanic culture. I had the chance to visit historical sites and learn about California's fascinating history, further enriching my cultural experience. Following my time in San Diego, I journeyed to Seattle to visit family. The week I spent there was a culinary delight, as Seattle boasts some of the finest cuisine I've ever sampled, particularly Asian cuisine. The attention to detail and flavor execution in their dishes left me craving more even after returning to Sacramento. Beyond its culinary offerings, Seattle's proximity to the Canadian border provides stunning mountain vistas that envelop you in natural beauty. These excursions beyond Sacramento were not just about sightseeing; they were opportunities for personal growth and cultural immersion. Exploring different regions allowed me to broaden my perspective and gain a deeper appreciation for the diverse tapestry of American culture. Moreover, interacting with locals and learning about their customs and traditions provided invaluable insights into the fabric of society in each location. Traveling to San Diego and Seattle also reinforced the importance of embracing new experiences and stepping outside of my comfort zone. Each adventure presented its own set of challenges and uncertainties, but navigating them ultimately led to growth and self-discovery. Whether it was witnessing sea lions on the shores of San Diego or indulging in culinary delights in Seattle, these moments of exploration and discovery enriched my exchange experience in ways I never imagined. In retrospect, these side trips were more than just tourist outings; they were integral parts of my journey abroad. They allowed me to connect with different communities, delve into diverse cultures, and create lasting memories that will stay with me for a lifetime. Indeed, exploring San Diego and Seattle expanded my horizons and deepened my appreciation for the richness and diversity of the world around me.(402字)
