During my senior year, I spent a year as an exchange student at Winona State University in the United States. Winona State University is located in Winona, Minnesota. While I was abroad, I took a number of courses, including American culture and English writing. These courses not only enriched my knowledge system, but also gave me a deeper understanding of the American education system and culture, and improved my language skills. and intercultural communication skills.(75字)

When I was an exchange student at Winona State University in the United States during my senior year, my favorite class was the skiing class. This course was a new experience for me because it doesn’t snow in Taiwan, which allowed me to learn a lot of knowledge and skills in the course that I wouldn’t normally have access to. Ski lessons are more than just a physical education class, they combine physical training, skill learning and outdoor adventure. At the beginning of the course, the instructor will teach basic ski theory, including how to wear ski equipment, basic sliding techniques and safety instructions. After mastering the basic theory, we will go to the ski resort for practical practice. At first, I was very uncomfortable on the snow and kept falling. But with the guidance of the coach and the encouragement of my classmates, I gradually mastered my balance and began to enjoy skiing. One of the greatest rewards I have gained from skiing lessons is the experience of challenging myself and overcoming difficulties. Every time I fell down on the ski slopes, I would get up and try again, which taught me to persist and never give up. In addition, the skiing course also allowed me to meet many classmates from different countries. We studied together, helped each other, and established deep friendships. I highly recommend this course, especially to students from Taiwan. It doesn’t snow in Taiwan, so skiing is a rare experience for us. Through this course, you can not only learn the new skill of skiing, but also experience the excitement and fun of snow sports. In addition, skiing lessons can also improve physical fitness and exercise willpower, which is a good opportunity to develop yourself in an all-round way. The campus environment of Winona State University is very safe, and we can study and live with peace of mind here. The school's security measures are complete, which makes people feel very reassured. Whether it is day or night, the campus is well lit to allow students to move around in a safe environment. In terms of accommodation, the dormitories provided by the school are very comfortable and well-equipped. There is a small kitchen on each floor of the dormitory, which is particularly convenient for international students. They can cook their favorite food and reduce their reliance on eating out. The facilities in the dormitory are modern and clean, making people feel like home. The environment around the school is also very peaceful and comfortable. The city of Winona is a small, quiet town with a relatively slow pace of life, perfect for studying and relaxing. The surrounding natural landscape is beautiful, and there are many parks and lakes near the campus. Students can walk, run or engage in other outdoor activities in their spare time to enjoy the beauty of nature. The local climate has distinct characteristics: summers are cool and suitable for outdoor activities, while winters are relatively cold and often snow. This is a special experience for students from Taiwan, as Taiwan rarely has the opportunity to see so much snow. Winona in winter is like a snow-white fairy tale world, which makes people feel very novel and happy. I encountered many challenges while studying abroad at Winona State University, but these experiences also made me grow a lot. Difficulties encountered in life and courses, as well as experiences of culture shock, all became part of my learning and growth. One of the biggest challenges in life is adapting to the local climate. Coming from Taiwan, I am not familiar with cold winters, especially the frequent snowfall which makes me feel uncomfortable. To overcome this, I learned how to wear appropriate warm clothing and utilize the indoor facilities provided by the school for activities that would reduce my exposure to cold weather. At the same time, I also learned how to walk in the snow, which are skills that cannot be learned in Taiwan. During the course, I initially encountered some difficulties in understanding and completing assignments due to language barriers and different teaching methods. In order to overcome these problems, I actively discussed the course content with professors and classmates. Culture shock is a challenge that every international student faces. While living in the United States, I discovered that the local culture is very different from Taiwan. For example, Americans pay more attention to personal privacy and independence, while Taiwanese culture places more emphasis on group and family relationships. In order to immerse myself in the local culture, I try to participate in various social activities. In addition, I also actively participate in local festivals, such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, which not only allow me to have a deeper understanding of American culture, but also build deeper friendships with local people. Through these efforts, I gradually adapted to the local lifestyle and gained valuable experience and growth during this study abroad experience. In short, overcoming the difficulties and culture shock in studying abroad requires a positive attitude and proactive actions. By adapting to the local climate, strengthening my studies, and participating in social activities, I not only overcame the challenges in life and study, but also successfully integrated into the local culture, adding richness to my life.(339字)

(五)大三出國建議

For those students who are about to study abroad, I have the following suggestions, hoping to help you better adapt to and enjoy this precious experience. First of all, make adequate preparations. Before going abroad, understand the basic information about the country and school you are going to, including the local climate, culture, living habits, and school regulations and curriculum. This can reduce the unfamiliarity and discomfort when you first arrive. It is also helpful to learn some basic local language and daily expressions, which can make your life more convenient. Secondly, keep an open mind and a positive attitude. Studying abroad is a process of exploring a new world, and you will encounter many things that are different from what you have experienced before. Whether it is an academic challenge or a difficulty in life, you must accept and adapt with an open mind. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, learning and growing from them is the most important thing. Third, actively participate in activities inside and outside the school. Joining student organizations, participating in club activities and community services will not only help you quickly integrate into the local society, but also make new friends from different backgrounds and expand your international horizons. Participate in cultural exchange activities organized by the school and learn about and experience local festivals and traditions, which will make your study abroad life more colorful. Finally, don’t forget to take care of your mental health. Studying abroad can be lonely and stressful, and it's important to learn to ask for help. Stay in touch with family and friends and share your joys and confusions. In short, studying abroad is a journey full of challenges and opportunities.
