My favorite elective course is "American Culture," taught by a professor from South Korea. In this class, I gained profound insights into American culture and practical skills. The teacher not only imparted knowledge but also shared her experiences living and working in the United States, making the content vivid and relevant. We learned about American communication norms, especially effective email writing and idiomatic expressions. Through real-life examples and exercises, I gradually mastered how to appropriately apply these skills in various situations. Additionally, the course covered topics on cultural impact, helping us understand communication and behavioral differences across different cultural backgrounds, which was particularly beneficial for me as an international student adapting to life in the United States. This course was not just about imparting knowledge but also about guiding us on how to better integrate into and understand American culture. By gaining an in-depth understanding of American values and social customs, I feel more confident and comfortable living in this diverse society. It not only expanded my academic horizons but also strengthened my cross-cultural communication skills and social adaptation abilities, laying a solid foundation for my university life.(188字)

I really enjoy the living environment in Philadelphia. I am studying at Temple University, where the campus atmosphere is very friendly and supportive among students, fostering a strong learning environment. The apartment I rent is located in a safe and reliable community with dedicated security guards handling package deliveries, ensuring my safety and convenience. There are plenty of amenities nearby, including a variety of restaurants and convenience stores near the school, catering to my different tastes whether I crave fast food or a proper meal. Philadelphia has a pleasant climate with distinct seasons, allowing me to enjoy diverse seasonal changes and outdoor activities. In spring, I like to take walks on campus and admire the blooming flowers. During summer, I often picnic with friends in parks or swim in nearby lakes. Autumn, my favorite season, brings beautiful foliage of reds and yellows across campus. Despite the cold winter, I can join campus winter activities with classmates and immerse myself in a festive atmosphere. Overall, Philadelphia not only provides me with a quality learning environment and safe accommodation but also a sense of belonging and enjoyment in its vibrant life. I feel fortunate to spend my university years in such an enriching environment.(202字)

(四)自我成長

In terms of my courses, I am fortunate to have so many teachers who are willing to teach and guide me. They not only patiently answer my questions but also provide additional support and resources, enabling me to overcome learning challenges more effectively and make faster progress. Their support and encouragement make me feel valued and confident in my academic pursuits. In my personal life, I am also grateful for my foreign friends around me. They are supportive emotionally and practically help me solve life problems. With their companionship and assistance, I feel comforted and supported in adapting to a new environment and facing challenges, preventing me from feeling lonely or helpless. As for cultural adjustments, I did encounter some initial challenges and unfamiliar aspects. For example, I noticed that in the U.S., people do not wear indoor slippers, which is different from the customs in my country. Additionally, I am accustomed to washing dishes at home, whereas American apartments commonly have dishwashers, which was novel and different for me. Through interactions with local friends and colleagues, I gradually understood and adapted to these cultural differences, beginning to appreciate and respect each other's uniqueness. These experiences have enriched my life and broadened my perspective, enabling me to better integrate into and enjoy the diverse American society.(217字)

(五)大三出國建議

Firstly, be brave to try new things. Studying abroad is an excellent opportunity to explore the world and broaden your horizons. Don't be afraid of challenges and changes. In a new environment, you will encounter various cultures, customs, and lifestyles, all of which are valuable learning opportunities. Embrace them and actively participate. Secondly, make friends with locals and other international students. Building good relationships can help you integrate into the new environment faster and provide opportunities to expand your network and engage in learning exchanges. Through interactions with people from different backgrounds, you can gain a deeper understanding of local cultures while sharing and promoting Taiwanese culture and values, fostering cultural exchange and understanding. Lastly, maintain an open and positive attitude. When facing challenges and difficulties, stay patient and calm, and be open to new challenges and opportunities. Remember to maintain a mindset of continual learning, growth, and improvement. This will help you gain more fulfillment and achievement during your study abroad journey. In conclusion, studying abroad is a valuable life experience. I hope younger students can make full use of this time, bravely pursue their dreams, and build a brighter future!(192字)
