At Winona State University, the computer science courses were a highlight of my academic journey. Despite my initial apprehension due to the small class sizes, I soon came to appreciate the benefits it offered. With fewer students, professors could dedicate more time to each of us, fostering a supportive environment where questions were encouraged and individual progress was valued. These CS courses covered a diverse range of topics, from programming languages to software development methodologies. What made them truly memorable was their practical orientation. Rather than just theory, we were often tasked with real-world projects that challenged us to apply our knowledge in creative ways. This approach not only deepened my understanding of the subject but also equipped me with valuable skills for the future. However, amidst the rigorous academic schedule, it was the skiing course that provided the most exhilarating and unforgettable experience for me. As a novice skier, every morning heading to the slopes carried a mix of nerves and excitement. The crisp mountain air seemed to invigorate me as I geared up, my heart pounding with anticipation for what the day would bring. Our instructors, with their contagious enthusiasm, led us through drills and techniques, patiently correcting our form and encouraging us to push beyond our limits. Each run down the mountain presented its own set of obstacles, from navigating sharp turns to conquering steep inclines. There were moments of frustration, of course, when my skis tangled or I lost my balance, but with the support of my classmates echoing through the wintry air, I found the resilience to pick myself up and try again. What struck me most was the sense of camaraderie that permeated our time on the slopes. Despite our diverse backgrounds and skill levels, we bonded over shared triumphs and setbacks. We cheered each other on as we conquered new runs and offered words of encouragement during moments of doubt. These engaging computer science courses and skiing lessons both became nourishment for my growth.(331字)

Upon my arrival at Winona State University in Minnesota, I was greeted by an incredibly eye-opening experience. The campus life, particularly the dormitories, far exceeded my expectations. These dorm facilities felt more akin to a cozy inn than the typical dorms I was accustomed to in Taiwan. Situated in the quaint city of Winona, the serene surroundings of the university provided a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life. While the local climate, characterized by cold and dry winters, initially seemed daunting, it eventually became something I came to appreciate. Coming from Taiwan's hot and humid weather year-round, the crisp, cold air of Minnesota was invigorating. The dryness, in stark contrast to Taiwan's humidity, suited me well, as I don't mind the cold. However, the one aspect I struggled with was the food. Though it seemed fresh and exciting at first, I grew weary of it after just a month, still holding firm to my belief that Taiwan's cuisine reigns supreme. Nevertheless, everything else about Winona was fantastic. Living in Winona allowed me to immerse myself in American culture while also appreciating the unique charm of this small city. The palpable sense of community here made it easy for me to forge connections both on campus and within the local community. These experiences have since become some of my most cherished memories. From the breathtaking beauty of Winona's natural surroundings to the warmth of its people, each moment spent here has left an indelible mark on my heart. As I reflect on my time at Winona State University, I am filled with gratitude for the invaluable lessons learned and the friendships forged.(275字)

Studying in the United States has been a journey filled with challenges and growth to me. Here, I've not only learned from textbooks but also deeply experienced the collision and fusion of different cultures. Initially, socializing posed a significant challenge for me. Unlike interpersonal interactions in Taiwan, social dynamics in the U.S. were markedly different. Breaking the ice with strangers, engaging in small talk, and understanding cultural nuances in social settings were hurdles I had to overcome. However, through patience, observation, and stepping out of my comfort zone, I gradually adapted. Joining clubs, attending social events, and participating in group activities provided invaluable opportunities to connect with others and forge meaningful friendships. Food was another aspect where cultural differences were evident. From portion sizes to flavor profiles, American cuisine presented a departure from what I was accustomed to. Exploring local eateries, trying new dishes, and even cooking traditional Taiwanese meals for friends became avenues for cultural exchange and appreciation. The difference in classroom dynamics was also notable. In the U.S., emphasis is often placed on active participation, critical thinking, and independent learning. Adjusting to this learning style required me to speak up more in class, engage in debates, and take greater initiative in my studies. Over time, I grew accustomed to this approach and found it to be enriching, fostering deeper understanding and intellectual development. During my year in the United States, I learned to embrace the cultures of other countries, which has broadened my worldview. These experiences have become cherished memories for me.(256字)
