(一)基本資料

The school where I studied abroad was Winona State University, which is located in Winona, Minnesota, USA. I studied abroad from August 2023, until May 2024. I studied Spanish, modern world history, world regional geography, cultural geography and ethnic studies at Winona State University.(42字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite class at Winona State University is the Spanish class. You can learn a lot in this class. Although the pace of the class is a bit fast, every part is taught very carefully, and you can learn it as long as you review it. Professor also often encourage me and always write encouraging words for me in exams of all sizes, so that I feel that I will not be discouraged during the learning process. Moreover, this class is often divided into groups, so I can get to know different classmates, make new friends, and learn different cultures from them. In addition, this class has a very interesting assignment, which is to have an online conversation with a Spanish native speaker. I was really nervous at first, but my Spanish partner kept encouraging me, so I tried to have a conversation and I found a little bit of confidence in the conversation. Even if I made a mistake in the conversation, my partner would gently correct me and teach me the correct usage, which helped me learn a lot. The above are the reasons why I like this class. I also hope that students who also want to learn Spanish but are afraid of not being good at it will try this class and they will definitely gain a lot.(222字)

The school campus is quite big, so it is easy to get lost at first, but as long as you find the atrium of the school, it will be easier to figure out the direction. If you really get lost, you can ask other students or professors passing by. Everyone is very nice. Furthermore, there are different types of dormitories in the school. When I was in Winona, I lived in Sheehan Hall. The toilets, bathrooms and kitchens in Sheehan Hall are shared on each floor. The rooms are for two people or one person can live in a two-person room. There is no air conditioning in the room but there is heater. The temperature in Winona is relatively high in August. In November, the weather will get colder and even start to snow, so you need to take measures to keep warm. The store closest to the school and with a relatively complete range of items is the store at the gas station. Hot food will also be sold inside. There are relatively few restaurants near the school, and most restaurants need to be walked for fifteen minutes. There is delicious pizza and Japanese food in Winona.(198字)

The most common problem encountered when taking classes abroad may be the different teaching methods and speeds, which lead to a lack of understanding of the professor's teaching content. But in fact, there is no need to worry at this time. The best way is to try to participate in the class and discuss with local students. After class, you can also ask the professor questions about the class, and the professor will be happy to answer them. There will definitely be differences in lifestyle from your American roommates. The best way is to explain your living habits at the beginning, such as what time you go to bed. Another way is to bring it up directly when you encounter any uncomfortable situations and communicate with each other in a way that everyone can accept, so that you can usually get along well with your roommates.(146字)

Don’t be afraid to speak English. Even if you don’t know how to express yourself, you can still try. Everyone is very patient. When you encounter a problem, the best way is to ask the teacher for help. You can make more friends, especially friends with cars, which is very convenient for shopping and going out. It’s really cold in winter, so you need to keep warm, and the weather is very dry, so you need to drink more water. Be sure to go out when you have the opportunity to see more places and experience different cultures, but at the same time, pay attention to safety and never go to dangerous areas. American restaurants attach great importance to tips. If you give them, you don't need to give too much, but you must be mentally prepared that some waiters may look unhappy.(146字)
