2023大三出國輔導通報系統 - 留學心得報告[編輯]

In terms of my favorite course, Food & Beverage Service would undoubtedly be the one I highly recommend to choose. Unlike most of the courses ICMS features, Food & Beverage Service pays more attention to its practical lessons instead of theories, which caters more to my need as I had not had any food and beverage industry experience or knowledge beforehand. In addition to that, I got to acquaint the world of barista level coffee making, operation of fine dining restaurant, and many other useful skills that I can apply on the real industry upon stepping into one, which I would explore further in the second paragraph. With regard to what I was taught in this class, one of the most imperative lessons is table service, which includes A la carte table setup, napkin folding and the procedure of fine dining table service, a simulation of being the real servers serving guests who were played by professors and some invited students was even hold to strengthen our ability and comprehension about this field. Apart from that, we got to have numerous field trips to local bar restaurants, beer breweries and even the Fine Food Exhibition in the International Convention Centre in Sydney, which were priceless experiences as some of the activities are not open to general public. And lastly, it was not until I took this course that I got in touch with coffee making, an easy-sounding but profound and technics-demanding skill that takes a long time to be a pro. Thanks to this course, now I can make all kinds of coffee and even the simple latte art with fully-equipped barista knowledge. By way of conclusion, Food & Beverage Service is a must-take course without any single doubt if you want to learn something practical before really stepping into the hospitality industry. (300字)

ICMS, the International College of Management Sydney, is a college located on a little hill in Manly, Sydney. In terms of its location, it takes fifteen minutes to walk to the nearest supermarket and the same time to Manly beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches that Sydney is proud of with its breathtaking coast view and a row of gigantic palm trees along the beach. For bus service, you can either take the school bus or wait at the bus stop which is just in front of the school gate to get to the wharf as you have to take the ferry to get to the city. Despite the troublesome access to city centre, the dormitory in this classic castle-style building is a dream coming true, not to mention some of the rooms having spectacular coast view from the window, the only problem of it is the slowly-moving lift that always takes a century to your floor especially when you are in a hurry, so remember to come press the button earlier to prevent yourself from being late. Lastly, I would like to talk about the cafeteria, it has got multiple types of seats for your preference, indoor sofa seats with a computer to play music, outdoor high tables and even the ones with parasols so you can enjoy the sun and birds chirping while eating your brunch in a lovely weekend. They do provide appetizing food from time to time and food saving service that you can have your food saved and take it later if you are outside the college. (265字)

(四)自我成長

Talking about what I have learned and grown in this multi-culture campus, I have to admit that it did take me a while to get used to the live here, such as the eating habits, teaching methods as well as the communication with classmates from around the world as we don’t see as many western faces as we do here back in Tamkang University. I find it hard to assimilate into groups from other countries as most people feel more comfortable to hang out with friends with similar culture including Taiwanese ourselves. I, however, did luckily make a few foreign friends from Germany, Romania, French, Vietnam and some people from other Asian countries thanks to the table tennis table equipped in the market place as I am a huge fan of ping pong. Other than that, I have also struggled a little in the class because we are used to just listening to what the professor is saying while they care more about the mutual communication between the lecturers and students during the class. However, despite many news challenges coming unexpectedly, I did cultivate my critical thinking and independent ability faster than I ever thought, not to mention the improvement of English listening and speaking. All in all, if it were not for this trimester I spent in ICMS, I wouldn’t have had learned that much and got myself fully prepared for the coming of work placement in my hotel as it’s literally putting myself in the real hospitality industry (253字)

(五)大三出國建議

When it comes to the suggestions I can provide, firstly I would recommend you to plunk up the courage to step out of your comfort zone, delivering more of your thoughts in the class, speaking more English to someone else when you get the chance and participating events such as cocktail welcome party and Halloween basement bar night as many as possible could all be good examples to take initiatives. Secondly, remember your purpose of coming here, for instance, I went to the grand hall where installed the coffee machine to practice milk steaming and coffee making in my free time once in a while as the Food and Beverage Service professor has approved us to do so. Thirdly, make good use of your leisure time. To cite myself as an example, I went practice my food and beverage skill with all the resources in campus, played piano or pool in the basement, explored the charm of city and even once just grabbed the towel, wore the swimming suit and took a walk straight to the beach, enjoying the sunburn and the chilling vibe in this awesome place. And finally, please stand out for yourself if needed. A striking example has happened to us, the internship placement consultant initially had no intention to arrange us to our ideal hotels or restaurants other than the one she designated until individuals sent emails to request according to their personal preferences. And cases like this, no one will help you out except yourself. (250字)
