(一)基本資料

The school where I studied abroad during my junior year was Manly in Sydney, and the name of the school was ICMS. I arrived on August 25, 2023. I took Restaurant Concept at ICMS. This class is mainly about learning how to run a restaurant and what facilities a restaurant requires, or the color of the interior of the restaurant. For example, the color of the interior of the restaurant is red, which reminds people of In China, or restaurants mainly sell spicy food. The Bar&Mixology class mainly teaches the making of bartending and the history and origin of wine and beer. Gastonomy teaches about different foods from different countries and how to make them. The teacher also invited chefs to the class to let us try various chocolates. The one that impressed me the most was the spicy chocolate. Last but not least, the Introduction of tourism is about different means of transportation in different countries, as well as different activities in different countries. (二)課程學習

My favorite class is Bar & Mixology. In this class, we learned some knowledge about how was red and white wine making, what's more, we even visited Hunter Valley to see the wine making process and some ancient machines. They even showed us the grapes they grew themselves. Although we were there after the peak season, we could see some grapes that had not been fully harvested. During our visit to Hunter Valley, we tasted many different types of beers, beers made with different types of wheat, as well as beers made in iron cans and wooden barrels. The beer brewed in wooden barrels has a very special taste. Well, the aroma is also much different from the beer in the tin can. In school, we also tasted many spirits and mixers. Tasting spirits is to let us understand the different tastes of each kind of wine and their different textures. For example, Bailey milk wine has many flavors, such as coffee or tiramisu flavor. Gin also has grapefruit flavor, which is not just an alcoholic flavor. This allows bartenders to have more variety when making drinks, and guests will not feel monotonous when drinking. Of course, bartending can't be learned just by watching it, so making bartending is one of our exam projects. Everyone has to go into the classroom alone to simulate talking to guests in the bar and making bartending. First of all, you need to greet the guests, then confirm the items they ordered, and then make the cocktails. In order to prevent the guests from getting bored when making the cocktails, you also need to find some topics to talk to the guests, such as telling the guests the history of wine. , for example, in addition to being spirit, vodka can also be used to clean glass. In addition to bartending and learning about spirits, I also learned what kind of food can be paired with red and white wine. When drinking red wine, it is best to pair with steak. When you eat desserts, you can choose champagne. Or pink wine, the difference is caused by the tannins in the wine, which will affect the taste of the food.(364字)

Our school is located in the mountains of Manly, probably because it is far away from the city, so the air and environment are very good. The school is very big. Sometimes my friends and I will take a walk in the school together after dinner. There are also many recreational facilities in the basement of the school for us to play, such as playing pool, basketball, and volleyball. Most of the places near ICMS school are other schools, and there are also some residents. Moreover, the residents nearby know that our school also knows some teachers. If you want to return to the school dormitory from the city at night, it is very safe and you will not encounter strange things on the way. people. The temperature difference between morning and evening in ICMS is very large in the mountains. It may also be because the sun has set. If you wear a coat when you go out at noon, you will sweat, but when you come home at night, you will feel very warm, and you may even feel cold. It was winter when we went to Australia, and the school was considerate enough to put a heater in everyone's room. In order to keep it clean, someone will come to help clean the room every week, change bed sheets and bath towels, and someone will also come to clean the school's public toilets regularly. The school provides different meals every day, including breakfast, lunch and dinner. During holidays, there are only brunch and dinner. The school also provides desserts after meals, as well as many fruits. The diet is very balanced. (四)自我成長

In class, sometimes I don’t understand what the teacher is saying, or I encounter difficulties when making a report and don’t know where to find resources. I would ask the teacher after class, or send an email to the teacher, and the teacher would explain to me very attentively and conscientiously. At the beginning, I was worried that my report would not be as good as the teacher’s expectations. One week before submitting the report, I completed the report and checked it with the teacher to know where I had not done well or where I needed more work. Make supplements. The students in ICMS are very warm and enthusiastic. They will greet each other happily when they see each other. Even if your English expression is not very good, the new friends you meet at school will listen to you patiently. If you meet If you don’t understand a word, you’ll look it up online until you know what the other person is talking about.Foreigners are more outgoing than Asians, but foreigners will not dislike you. They will follow your pace and play with you, and you may become more outgoing because of this. You will feel comfortable getting along with them, and you don’t have to worry too much. In Asian countries, there are always too many things to worry about, but abroad they think that as long as If it makes you happy, then do it.(246字)

(五)大三出國建議

The opportunity to study abroad for an internship is really rare, and the benefits provided by the school are also very good. I really learned a lot here. I studied in the school for the first three months, which can be said to be preparation for my future internship in a hotel. When I finished the course and went to work as an intern in a hotel, I was very tired at work, but I gained a lot of knowledge and experience. When you first come to Australia, you may be shocked by the prices here, but the salary for working and interning here is also very high, which can completely cover your normal expenses. If you have the opportunity to come to Sydney to take classes, I really recommend it. The way the class is held, the content of the teacher's teaching, and the school's teachers will also provide follow-up care after you go out to find a job. After landing in Australia, you will need to prepare a lot of things. Before going abroad, you can check some information online, such as how to apply for a bank account and network card. The service efficiency here in Australia is slower than that in Taiwan. It is recommended to apply earlier. The working days usually start within a week. It is not recommended to apply for a local ID card. Unless you want to rent a car or drive here, a Taiwanese passport is enough most of the time.(250字)

(六)其他

The living functions in Sydney's city center are very good, so I don't need to worry about my food and clothes. There are many supermarkets and shopping malls. If you are looking for a hypermarket, you can take the bus and you can get there in about 10-15 minutes. If you don’t want to go out, you can also choose home delivery to buy and sell vegetables or daily necessities online, just like uber eats in Taiwan, and of course, Australia. Supermarkets have different specials every Wednesday. Before going shopping, you can check online to see if there are any products you want to buy.
