To talk about my favorite course of the whole semester, it is a difficult question. I think my favorite one might be the Food & Beverage Service course. It is something I had never tried before. In this course, we learned every step of table service, including barista skills. It seemed difficult at first, but for someone like me, who does not enjoy sticking only to textbooks, it was a great way to learn through practical experience. What made the course even more interesting was how we simulated real-life scenarios. We had to actually serve guests in the campus cafeteria, which gave us a sense of what working in the industry would be like. This class required full participation and careful attention to detail to ensure the service we provided was both high quality and consistent. We also covered essential topics such as the setup of fine dining restaurants, the basics of serving alcoholic beverages, coffee-making skills, the structure of the entire service process, and technical skills like polishing cutlery properly. The course not only helped me become familiar with the knowledge and skills I need for the hospitality industry but also taught me the importance of teamwork. A great restaurant requires more than just high-quality food; excellent service plays a crucial role as well. The concept of teamwork stood out the most during this course, as every task required close collaboration with classmates to create a smooth dining experience for guests. Lastly, I truly appreciate the professor for their patience and dedication. They not only taught us thoroughly but also cared deeply about our growth and progress. This made the course even more enjoyable and motivating for me, and it reinforced my interest in learning more about the food and beverage industry.(292字)

The ICMS Manly campus is an ancient castle located up the hill. It's a stunning place, not just because of its impressive architecture but also due to the breathtaking scenery surrounding it. During sunset, the campus glows like a golden palace, making it feel even more magical. The location is also ideal, as it provides easy access to the beach. Whenever we have free time, it’s convenient to take a short walk down to the shore and enjoy the beautiful coastal views. In summer, the temperature can rise to around 40 degrees Celsius. However, the sea breeze in the evening makes the weather feel cozy and pleasant, so it’s not too hot to live on campus. That said, during autumn and winter, the temperature can drop significantly, so bringing a jacket is necessary to avoid getting cold, as the temperature difference between day and night can be quite drastic. Manly itself is a small but charming town. It takes around 20 minutes to reach Sydney’s Central Business District (CBD) and just about 10 minutes by bus to the nearest shopping mall. The shops in town usually close around 5 p.m., creating a peaceful and quiet atmosphere during the evenings. On weekends, there are often events happening around town, and the Sunday markets are definitely worth a visit for unique crafts and local food. Beach activities are very popular as well. Many people from the city come to Manly Beach for swimming, surfing, or even paragliding, making it a vibrant spot during the day.(253字)

During campus life, I wouldn’t say things were too hard for me. The real challenge began during my work placement. Every day, I had to deal with different problems, whether it was handling picky customers, managing difficult interactions with a strict manager, or simply enduring the physical demands of the job. During the busy Christmas and New Year’s Eve period, my highest record of working hours in a single week reached 43.5 hours, which left me feeling exhausted every day. It was hard to keep a genuine smile on my face while working, especially when the repetitive tasks started to feel draining. Eventually, my performance suffered, and my shifts were reduced significantly during that time. However, a conversation with my manager completely shifted my mindset. He told me something that really changed my approach: "Make it like a show. The restaurant is your stage, and the guests are your audience. Remember, it’s you and the team who are running this million-dollar business, not the owners or managers." Those words made me view my work differently. From that moment on, I started working with a much more positive attitude and found greater joy in my daily tasks until the end of my placement. Another valuable experience was working with people from all around the world. At first, communicating with colleagues from diverse cultural backgrounds felt challenging. However, as I got to know each person better, our teamwork became smoother, and I even made many great friends during my time at the restaurant.(253字)

Shoot your shot. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes or hesitate to try something new. Studying or working abroad is an incredible opportunity to explore the world, experience different cultures, and connect with people from diverse backgrounds. It's not just about academics or work experience—it's also a powerful way to grow personally. Stepping out of your comfort zone allows you to develop independence, resilience, and a broader perspective on life. This journey offers the chance to discover strengths you didn’t know you had. Whether it's learning a new language, adapting to unfamiliar environments, or building relationships with people from various cultures, every challenge you face helps you grow. It’s also an opportunity to learn life skills that will benefit you no matter what career path you choose in the future. Even if you don’t immediately feel the impact of your experiences while abroad, they can shape you in ways you may only realize later. Personal growth often happens quietly, and the lessons learned from overcoming challenges or embracing new experiences can change your mindset from different angles over time. So, take every moment as a learning experience. Make the most out of this unique opportunity, embrace the uncertainties, and trust that it will contribute positively to your future. Enjoy the journey, cherish the memories, and remember that the courage you show today will empower you for the rest of your life.(236字)
