(一)基本資料

I left Taiwan on August 26, 2023 and arrived in Sydney, Australia on August 27. The school I exchanged with was ICMS and I learned hotel-related knowledge during this period.(27字)

(二)課程學習

My favorite class is the bartending class because it allows me to learn about various drinks and experience the process of making them. This class includes off-campus lessons where we visit different wineries to learn about wine production and to taste various wines. These excursions provide invaluable hands-on experience and deepen our understanding of the complexities involved in winemaking. Our teacher, Jen, is originally from Korea but grew up in Australia, so her English is easy to understand. She is a wonderful teacher, not only because of her expertise but also because of her willingness to help her students. For example, when some of us had difficulty finding placements, she volunteered to contact a hotel she was familiar with and assisted us in securing internships. Her dedication to her students’ success is truly admirable. In addition to the technical skills we acquire, the bartending class also emphasizes the importance of creativity and presentation in making drinks. We learn about different techniques, garnishes, and the art of mixing flavors to create unique cocktails. This creative aspect of the class is particularly enjoyable, as it allows us to express our individuality and experiment with new ideas. The class also fosters a sense of camaraderie among the students. We often work in pairs or small groups, which helps us develop teamwork and communication skills. These interactions have led to lasting friendships and a supportive learning environment. The knowledge and skills gained in this class extend beyond the classroom, preparing us for future careers in the hospitality industry. The off-campus experiences are highlights of the course. Visiting wineries and learning from industry professionals gives us a broader perspective on the field. We gain insights into the business side of winemaking and bartending, which is crucial for anyone considering a career in this industry. Overall, the bartending class is an enriching experience. It combines practical skills, creativity, and real-world applications, making it an essential part of my education. I am grateful for the opportunity to learn from such a dedicated teacher and to be part of a class that offers so much more than just textbook knowledge.(352字)

(三)生活環境

I live in Manly, which is a 20-minute commute to the city. I truly enjoy the view and the weather here because from my dormitory, I have a direct sightline to the famous Manly Beach and its stunning sunsets. The weather in Manly is typically sunny, though it does rain occasionally, which I dislike because it gets quite cold. Living in Manly is also very convenient. There are banks, supermarkets, and cafes nearby. In addition, the area is known for its famous beaches where you can swim and bask in the sun during the summer. The school I attend, ICMS, provides three meals a day for students who prefer to stay on campus. This is quite handy because it means we don’t have to worry about going out for food. However, we do need to be cautious of the beautiful birds that might try to snatch food from us. ICMS, the International College of Management, Sydney, is a wonderful place. The campus is stunning, and the teachers and students are all very friendly. One of my favorite aspects of school life here is the party held at the beginning of each term. These events provide an excellent opportunity to meet and interact with students from various countries, fostering a diverse and inclusive community. The vibrant community life in Manly extends beyond the school. The town offers a range of recreational activities, from surfing at the beach to hiking in the nearby trails. There are also various cultural events and festivals throughout the year, which add to the charm and appeal of living here. The combination of natural beauty, convenience, and a welcoming community makes Manly an ideal place to live and study. I feel fortunate to call this place home and look forward to continuing my adventures here.(299字)

The primary difficulty I faced in school was managing the extensive word count and numerous requirements for the reports. We needed to submit different reports during weeks 4, 7, and 12, which added to the pressure. Since I had selected four classes, this meant that I often had to submit three or four reports simultaneously within a few weeks. Some of these reports were group projects that required collaboration and discussion with classmates, while others were individual assignments that I had to complete on my own. Each assignment had a basic requirement of 2,000 words and needed to be written in English. For someone like me, who is not a native English speaker, this was a particularly challenging task. It took considerable time to get accustomed to and required a great deal of hard work and perseverance. The process of researching, organizing thoughts, and writing in a foreign language was daunting, but it also pushed me to improve my English skills significantly. The group projects added an additional layer of complexity, as they required effective communication and coordination with team members. We had to ensure that everyone was on the same page and that the final report was cohesive and met all the specified requirements. This experience taught me valuable lessons in teamwork, time management, and the importance of clear communication. Despite the challenges, these assignments were also incredibly rewarding. They provided an opportunity to delve deeply into the subject matter and develop a thorough understanding of the topics covered in our classes. Each completed report was a testament to the hard work and effort invested, and it was satisfying to see the final product come together.(273字)

(五)大三出國建議

My suggestion is to have fun when you can, but focus on making reports when you need to, because once you start your internship, you will be exposed to different experiences, marking the beginning of another stage in your life. At school, you don’t need to worry about money and transportation, and you can enjoy spending time with classmates of the same age. This period allows you to build strong friendships and enjoy a relatively carefree environment. However, once you start working, the people you interact with will often be of different ages and backgrounds. This can be quite a change from the school environment, and it will take time to adapt to these new dynamics. In the workplace, you’ll need to develop new skills, such as professional communication and time management, which are different from the skills you use in school. During your studies, it's important to balance fun and academics. While it’s crucial to enjoy your time with friends and make the most of your social life, it’s equally important to dedicate time to your assignments and reports. These reports are not just tasks to complete; they help you develop critical thinking, research, and writing skills that will be invaluable in your future career. In summary, enjoy your time at school and make lasting memories, but remember to prioritize your academic responsibilities. The effort you put into your studies now will prepare you for the professional world and ease your transition into the internship and beyond. Balancing fun and work will help you make the most of both your academic and professional journeys.(269字)
