From my perspective, the course that profoundly impacted me was Financial Engineering during my exchange at Hanyang University in Ansan City, South Korea. This course stood out for several reasons. Exploring topics such as financial modeling and analysis deepened my understanding and appreciation of the complexities within the finance industry. During the scorching summer months, students enjoy the warmth of the sun while engaging in various outdoor activities. As autumn arrives, the campus transforms into a sea of vibrant colors with the falling maple leaves, providing a serene atmosphere for studying and contemplation. Finally, winter brings a magical touch with snow-covered landscapes, evoking a sense of wonder and tranquility. Aside from its natural beauty, Hanyang University boasts excellent facilities that cater to the needs of its students. On-campus amenities include post offices and banks, providing convenient access to essential services. Within the dormitory buildings, there are well-stocked convenience stores and shops offering a wide range of daily necessities. This accessibility ensures that students can easily manage their daily tasks without having to venture far from the campus grounds. For students like myself who value convenience and comfort, Hanyang University's campus environment offers an ideal setting for both academic and personal pursuits. The availability of essential services within close proximity fosters a sense of convenience and security, allowing students to focus on their studies and extracurricular activities without unnecessary distractions. Moreover, the vibrant campus life at Hanyang University enhances the overall student experience. During my exchange program at Hanyang University in South Korea, I encountered various challenges, particularly in language and dietary aspects. Despite having a basic proficiency in Korean, I initially hesitated to speak the language due to a lack of confidence, fearing mistakes or being misunderstood. However, as I realized the limited English proficiency among Koreans, I embraced the challenge and actively used Korean to better integrate into local life. The encouragement I received when Koreans praised my proficiency uplifted my spirits and bolstered my determination to use Korean more actively. Simultaneously, dietary adjustments posed another significant challenge during my time at Hanyang University. Korean cuisine typically includes fewer cooked vegetables, making it challenging for me to obtain sufficient vegetable nutrients. However, I found a solution by frequenting Chinese restaurants and ordering hot pot, which allowed me to select a variety of vegetables to supplement my nutrition. Overcoming this dietary challenge taught me the importance of actively seeking solutions and strategies when facing cultural differences, rather than focusing solely on the problems themselves. In terms of academics, I encountered difficulties while taking a Financial Engineering course in the first semester. This course presented a completely new challenge as I had never encountered similar content before. Adapting to the course required considerable focus and time to grasp the concepts. Despite initial struggles, I persevered in my studies, seeking assistance and guidance when needed. Ultimately, through relentless effort and dedication, I successfully overcame this challenge and passed the course. This experience not only enriched my knowledge but also laid a solid foundation for my future academic and professional endeavors. Reflecting on my exchange program at Hanyang University, overcoming these challenges has been instrumental in my personal growth and development. Each obstacle presented an opportunity for learning and adaptation, reinforcing the importance of resilience and determination in navigating unfamiliar situations. Navigating the culinary landscape can be another challenge. Korean cuisine may differ significantly from what you're accustomed to, with a focus on fewer cooked vegetables. However, don't be afraid to explore diverse dining options. Seek out Chinese restaurants offering hot pot, where you can select a variety of vegetables to complement your meals and maintain a balanced diet. Academic challenges are inevitable, especially when encountering entirely new subjects. For instance, tackling a Financial Engineering course with no prior exposure can be daunting.
