(一)基本資料

University of Queensland is located in Brisbane, Australia. The weather here is cozy and warm no matter which season you visit. Brisbane is a city that is full of surprises from its market to the beach nearby, also it includes with different people with different culture background. The university not only offers me a good place to study but also different kinds of activities that I can join in. Besides Brisbane, I also visited other cities as well, such as Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide even New Zealand. The course I choose are most related to hospitality and tourism industry. Most of time we will have class discussion with our group members and focus on presenting in different ideas.(117字)

The course that I enjoy the most is TRVT 2003 PROJECT MGMT TOURISM & EVENTS. In this course, we have to learn how to plan an event and to list where the event takes, who are we going to invite and what kind of sponsor we need to look for, etc. At the beginning, we need to team up with our classmate, to get to know how the event planner works and what detail they need to look up to. Then we are going to choose a topic to discuss about how to make this event better and what situation we may get into. After the midterm project, we are able to plan a real event in person. It takes place at the museum and we need to choose the event that suit the exhibition in our museum during that time. The topic I named my project is U N M that means U( museum) N (and) M (museum). The event I've plan for is to combine Marin life with the exhibition, not only the people who visit will get notice about the important that the danger in Marin right now but also they can through the event to get to know more people and step out comfort zone. Another course that also came to my mind is TRVT 3004 STRAT MGMT OF TOURISM & EVENTS, during the course, we are able to think about how the tourists influence local industry and get to discuss with how Brisbane are going to present the world in 2032 Olympic. We talked about how to improve the transportation in the city and which attraction will be the one that government need to spend time to take care, etc. These makes me realize that how the global event will affect local economy and it is also citizen's responsibility to present the best part of their home town to the world from the mega event.(315字)

Queensland University is a good place to visit whether you are study there or not. Besides it will take me 20 minutes to get to the school from my dormitory, otherwise you can start your day in the school with a coffee or bagel easily. As the home of nature, we also have various of animals who will company you in the school as well, most of my friends are surprised about the turkey in our campus. It rarely rains in Brisbane but it will not be too hot as well. Where I live is near the city centre in Brisbane, you can easily find different types of food to try on near the city, it is also convenient to go to other town by taking the train. Most of all, there is a student transport card that you can apply for when you are studying in Brisbane. You can get a monthly ticket to take you with different kinds of transportation such as train, bus even the fairy that will take you through the river. Along Brisbane city, there is a river side that people usually spend their time with family and friends, most of them will have picnic or a walk along the river side, there are also a lot of restaurant near by that people can enjoy the food and sun set at the same time. In my opinion, the sky is quit different from Taiwan, I will recommend to take the fairy to enjoy the time with the sun set. (253字)

I think that for me, the difficulty of culture shock did not affect me too much, because my roommate in the first semester was a Norwegian, and he introduced me to his hometown and their traditional culture very enthusiastically. What impressed me most was that at Christmas time, their mother played the role of Santa Claus in their family. Every time it came to giving gifts, his cousins seemed particularly happy, and their elementary school also had the custom of throwing snowballs. Wait, every time I hear him share stories with me, I find it very interesting. At the same time, I will also share Taiwan’s food and special festivals with him. Because I have a good roommate, I don’t feel too much trouble about stepping out of my comfort zone. In order to know more people form other country, I start to join the event that hold by the dorm or school, there is one time that the club I join took us to the zoo to see the Kuala and kangaroo. It is a cool experience that I can get so close with the kangaroo and another point that surprise me is that there are not that much kangaroos that you can see in Australia. Even there are just a few when I travel on a road trip. However, in terms of study, I think what is different from Taiwan is that they have very strict requirements for references. What is different from Taiwan is that it is necessary to indicate which book or article by which author the information was taken from when writing a report. This is what bothers me the most every time. Because Taiwan did not specifically remind me about this, my report score was reduced due to citation errors in some classes. Later, after I began to understand their requirements, I make less mistakes on my assignment.(316字)

(五)大三出國建議

After leaving in Australia for about a year, it is important to bring enough medicine with you. According to a lot of people I know, most of us get sick after we get to Australia in a month, no matter how strong you are, it is a must to bring medical supplies with you. Another one is that if you are selecting the course that is not from grad 1, you need to understand how to place the reference in your report or behind your report. The campus attaches great importance to this aspect. For students who are not confident in their speaking, there is no need to worry about this. In Australia, a culturally diverse place, even if your speaking is not fluent, both the waiter and the ordering staff will patiently listen to your expression. Give a complete reply. In my impression, Australians are always very enthusiastic and will do everything possible to help you.But this does not mean that you don’t need to practice speaking at all. After all, school reports and discussions among classmates still require the use of English. So I suggest start to practice your speaking one and a half month before you are going to study abroad. This can help you to adapt to local life faster. Finally, no matter which city you go to for exchange, I hope that you can use this year's opportunity to not only challenge your own different life styles, but also bring you many unexpected surprises in your life. I wish you all the best in the future.(262字)

(六)其他

During this period, I also went to New Zealand to participate in a summer camp-like trip. In addition to challenging many things that I had never tried before, I also met more people from different countries who came to New Zealand to travel. Some of them came to enjoy one last freedom before work, some people come to relax, and some people just want to see the mysteries of nature. It is not easy to bring people from all over the world together because of the same concept, but it also makes me cherish it more because of this experience. To every person I met along the way, I would like to thank them for taking me on a journey I have never experienced before, and thank them for everything they have given me during the journey.(137字)
