(一)基本資料
When I went abroad for my junior year, I chose to study at RMIT in Melbourne. Although I was not used to it when I first arrived and felt that everything was unfamiliar, after actually living there, I found that Melbourne is not as inconvenient as I imagined. The pace of life in Melbourne is very leisurely. The weather and air are also very good, which makes me want to go out every day. My daily leisure and entertainment are related to nature, whether I go to the beach to bask in the sun or sit on the grass in the park and do homework. I found a way of studying that suits me at RMIT. I like RMIT's practical teaching method, which allows us to learn things that will be used in the workplace. In the second semester, the school also invited outside companies to cooperate with us and ask us to build embankments to solve the current situation the company is facing. This is a very special experience. I learned a lot of new and different things during my year abroad. Everyone in Australia respects each other and no one will criticize you or judge you. Because of this, I learned not to care about other people’s opinions and to express my opinions bravely. and learn to be responsible for myself. I am very happy that I have stepped out of my comfort zone to experience a different life and have a different perspective.

One of my favorite classes at RMIT is the project practice course called Undertake Project. In this class, we were divided into groups and tasked with creating a complete project from scratch, with the final report presented to the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) at the end of the semester. I learned invaluable hands-on experience in project management, communication, and teamwork throughout the process. The course taught me essential skills such as how to record meetings effectively and lead a team towards a common goal. More importantly, I learned how to express my opinions confidently during discussions and how to actively contribute to the success of the project. This class emphasized the importance of communication and opinion exchange within a team, and I found myself developing both my oral expression and listening skills as we collaborated and debated ideas. Each meeting was an opportunity to not only voice my own ideas but also to hear and consider the diverse perspectives of my classmates. This exposure to different viewpoints helped me understand various positions and approaches, fostering a collaborative environment. I also learned how to handle disagreements constructively, which improved my ability to communicate and cooperate effectively with others. Beyond communication, the project required me to navigate challenges such as time management, task delegation, and problem-solving. Balancing the workload, meeting deadlines, and overcoming obstacles with my team taught me how to stay organized and maintain focus under pressure. These experiences have given me more confidence in my ability to manage future projects and adapt to the fast-paced demands of the workplace. Having the ability to execute projects successfully is crucial in any career. This course reinforced the importance of teamwork, time management, and critical problem-solving skills, all of which are key to ensuring project success. I am confident that the skills and insights I Earned in Undertake Project will be valuable assets as I move forward in my career.

RMIT is located in the city center of Melbourne. Transportation, accommodation, and shopping are very convenient. The famous attractions are concentrated in the city center. You can visit all the famous attractions in about two days, but in fact, there are many interesting shops hidden in the alleys. Lane, so I think that if you want to discover the charm of Melbourne, you need to spend time to experience and find it. The RMIT I study at is a city-based university that does not have a campus. The buildings are also distributed in every corner of the city. Among them, What I like most is the school library. There are so many different seating areas to choose from. When the weather is nice, I like to sit outside and do my homework while basking in the sun. My usual leisure and entertainment is to go to the supermarket to buy ingredients. Sometimes I like to be lazy and relax and eat out at restaurants. Compared to Taiwan, the price of eating out is relatively high. Each meal costs more than 15 Australian dollars on average, so I basically choose myself. Cooking, I also learned a new skill because of this. The local weather is very good most of the time, and the air is very dry, so it is comfortable to feel hot but not stuffy in the summer. However, the temperature in Melbourne sometimes differs a lot in the morning and evening, so you need to bring an extra layer when going out. coat. Finally, I just want to say that Melbourne is a great city and I will come back if I have the chance.

When I first arrived in Australia, I faced significant challenges in speaking English. Every time I tried to order food, I had to carefully think through my words before speaking. However, after being immersed in an English-speaking environment for an extended period, I gradually gained the confidence to speak more naturally. The professors at my college were incredibly supportive; they would slow down their speech and frequently check if we were following along with the lessons, which greatly eased my learning process. Another surprising aspect of my experience was the local food culture. In Taiwan, eating out is highly convenient and common, with many people preferring it over cooking at home. However, dining out in Australia is much more expensive, making it impractical to eat out for all three meals of the day. This situation pushed me to learn how to cook for myself, a skill I hadn't needed back home but have come to appreciate. One of the most striking differences I noticed about Australians is their attitude towards individuality and lifestyle. It’s common to see people wearing unique and unconventional outfits on the streets, yet no one stares at or criticizes them. Australians embrace a culture of acceptance, where everyone is free to express themselves without fear of judgment. Additionally, their approach to work-life balance is admirable. Unlike the pressure-driven work culture in many countries, Australians prioritize the quality of life over working long hours. They value their leisure time and believe in maintaining a healthy balance between work and personal life, a mindset I greatly admire and aspire to adopt.

Before you study abroad, the first decision you need to make is whether you want to focus on learning new academic skills or decide on an internship to gain valuable work experience. This decision will shape your entire study abroad plan. Once you've made your choice, start researching potential schools, programs, and the surrounding living environment, including the local culture, lifestyle, and any adjustments you might need to make. It's crucial to prepare for English proficiency tests, such as TOEFL or IELTS, and gather other required documents as early as possible. Delaying this process may limit your options and make it harder to get into your preferred schools. Living abroad will be quite different from what you're used to in Taiwan. It requires you to be more independent, managing your own study schedule and daily life without the familiar support system of home. It's a great opportunity to experience diverse cultures, meet new people, and broaden your worldview. It’s essential to keep an open mind, embrace new experiences, and be willing to adapt to the unexpected challenges you may face. Being proactive in solving problems on your own will help you grow personally and professionally. While studying abroad provides a chance for greater freedom compared to life in Taiwan, it’s important to maintain discipline and stay focused on your academic goals. Avoid illegal activities and risky behaviors that could jeopardize your future. By balancing your studies and exploring new environments responsibly, you can gain invaluable experiences and skills. When you return to Taiwan, you will likely have a new perspective on life, enriched by your experiences abroad. Ultimately, studying abroad is a chance to learn, grow, and create lasting memories, so make the most of it while staying safe and committed to self-improvement.
