(一)基本資料
The school I attended from August 2023 to May 2024 was Indiana University in Pennsylvania, located in a small town on the east side of Pittsburgh. It is still more than an hour's drive from Pittsburgh, and because there is no need to attend language classes, the courses I take are no different from those of local American students. They are all formal undergraduate courses taught in English.

【照片說明:上課方式】
My favorite class is Professor Todd's macroeconomics and microeconomics. Although the teaching method is very rigid, it is not boring but rather easy to understand! He is a senior teacher who often uses current affairs news as examples in class, adding a touch of life to the originally academic curriculum. Although classes often take 1.5 hours and we often feel tired due to the long class time, teachers will not be strict with us just because we are students. It is also possible to go out and have a walk, and there is no problem with wanting to eat during class! The grading method is also very user-friendly. In addition to adjusting the scores, it will also provide us with classroom practice questions and after-school practice questions. The purpose is not only to deepen our impression and improve learning effectiveness, but more importantly, it can give us more opportunities to earn extra points.

(三)生活環境
International students are required to live in on-campus dormitories, which are spacious and equipped with microwaves, refrigerators, mattresses and dining tables. The central air conditioner will adjust the temperature according to the weather, with sufficient heating in winter and sufficient cooling in summer. The winter climate in Indiana can reach -20 degrees Celsius, and the winter will last until March. Snow will continue to fall in the snowy parts, and it will feel like spring until April and May. The rest of the area has a dry and cold climate, but not too cold. The highest temperature in summer is around 25 degrees Celsius, which is relatively warm. To be honest, except for the inconvenience of transportation and entertainment, this place is quite suitable for living. The pace of life in rural Indiana is very slow, which is a bit uncomfortable for a city kid like me, but it doesn't stop me from liking it here! Our school is far away from many places, but the school is very friendly to international students. Because they know that we have difficulty in transportation, they will take us out for a walk every month. In the first month, they took us to downtown Pittsburgh, and then to Niagara Falls and Washington. , the most recent time was to take us to an outlet. Every trip is an unforgettable memory, allowing us to turn the scenes in our textbooks into reality. In addition, the temperature here is also very pleasant, and the scenery is not to mention! Every time I walk down the street, I feel like I'm taking care of myself. Although the food is really terrible. The canteen basically has the same dishes, the same steaks, the same fries, but the energy of the canteen aunt makes me go in to eat every time because of her enthusiasm.

(四)自我成長
If there are any difficulties, there are none, but the thing that makes me most uncomfortable is: the culture of greeting and supporting the door. I am a very indifferent person. I will be frightened by other people's sudden enthusiasm. I will wonder why I suddenly asked me how are u? Or hold the door for the person behind me. This will make me feel more stressed and feel very uncomfortable. But after traveling westward for a while with Americans, I realized that this is their national nature. Happy to share and help. Not only should I accept it generously, but I should also be happy to help and share it with the next person. This is really a lifelong learning topic for me.

(五)大三出國建議
Coming to the United States is a process of discovering and growing, with new environments, challenges, language barriers, and cultural shocks. It is important to open the door to a new world and gain a deeper understanding of one's behavior, interests, values, and goals. In the past, I didn't have much understanding of worldviews or this phrase. I felt that having loving parents, familiar friends, and inclusive environments in my comfort zone made it difficult for me to think about changing the comfortable situation. After coming to the United States, I will meet many people of all kinds, and the more people I come into contact with, the more I will discover the vastness of the world. When discussing different opinions with friends from different races and cultures, the collision of viewpoints can make me realize that my original cognition is so different and more interesting. Life is a wilderness, not a race track. The significance of reading has always been to better understand oneself, the world, and the imperfections around us. Everything you experience and feel can accompany you throughout your life. If you talk about what I have changed after going abroad for a year, the biggest change is my perspective on problem-solving! Exchange is also about leaving the comfort zone, living, studying, encountering problems, and solving problems in a foreign country. Looking at cultural conflicts from a more calm or bystander perspective can make people more rational and courageous. I think life is about constantly exploring, trial and error, and accumulating experience.
