It was Racial and Ethnic Politics lectured by Professor Matt Lesenyie. The course is an upper division political science course on the topic of African American Politics. Including general knowledge of government institutions, political science concepts and research methods. I learned what race is, including attempts to measure race and the methodological limitations of race as a research variable. We explored the deep intertwinement of race politics in America, primarily with respect to elections. Also we examine policy that disproportionately affect Africans Americans. This course leverages multiple academic disciplines toward these ends.(92字)

The campus of California States University Long Beach is modern and cozy, with various student entertainments such as bowling and billiard in Student Union, sport courts like football, American football, and Student Recreation center with gym, rock climb and pool. The student recreation center and weekly sports game on campus were my favorite. I got to support the LBSU team playing for Big West League in NCAAB, we watched games every week for free on campus! My accommodation is a 2b1b apartment located in downtown Long Beach, it's a area with easy access to Long Beach City beach, banks and a local mall The Pike, not to mention the historical Pine Avenue was my place to go for a walk. Walking in my hood in daylight and sunset were amazing with perfect temperature and breeze. Weather in Long Beach California is always like a cocktail at the pool, cozy and addictive. Long Beach allows easy access to Los Angeles, Orange County and some infamous national parks in 6 hours drive. Going to beaches and hiking in national parks with friends are my normal weekend activities. The beaches here are stunning with breathtaking sunsets, not to mention getting to visit Yosemite National Park and Bryce Canyon. I am living my best life here.(212字)

(四)自我成長

There's not really too much "cultural shock" as long as you keep an open mind since you are visiting a new country with a whole lot different history and people. The ones worth mention will be the poor recycling system in USA, even with massive amount of consumption they still fail to abide recycling stuff that should. Which really concerns me like where do all these go? They lack an urgent sense of global issue but only focusing on their domestic economic growth. I used to suffer from required readings from my courses, but it got better after i consulted a professor which he gave me a reading tip. Always feel free to ask about your concerns here they are always happy to help, CSULB is a school that really take student's wellbeing into concern.(135字)

(五)大三出國建議

1.Don't live in any downtown area, the crime rates are concerning and you will not be able to go home feeling safe at night. 2. Only come to CSULB if you or your family are able to afford the high cost of living here, it's not a joke that one decent meal will cost you $20, or there will only be fast food left for option, that's a problem here. 3. Come here if you're either planning to buy a car, or you have enough patient to travel with the poor public transportation system, or you don't freakout staying in the same area the whole time. LA county is a place where you will really need a car to travel from A to B, everyone has a car, single ride of bus or train can't really take you anywhere, never expect Taiwan's public transportation system here, it's not even close. 4. Make friends. (149字)

(六)其他

I traveled from USA to Germany, Costa Rica, Mexico just to realize that Taiwanese passport is a pretty nice one that allows a decent amount of visa exempt. Little did I know that coming here allows me to explore not only north America but also the beauty of Latin America. I was very lucky to meet a good number of international students throughout both semesters, I got to spend my everyday with Germans in the first semester, it lead me into a better knowledge of German and European culture, I can speak ein bissen Deutsch which I am pretty proud of myself for. In the second semester, it was a big, diverse group of people ranging from Taiwanese, Chinese, American, Mexican, Costa Rican, Colombian, Chilean, Peruvian, Venezuelan, Spanish, French, German, Irish, Dutch, Italian, Swedish, Danish...you name it! It's a big cultural integration and only pure peer love that brought us together. We experience and explore USA together, talked and shared the best time of our life together, this will be my greatest and most precious memory of this Study abroad, nothing will ever take that from me and no one can say otherwise. The palms and the sunset drive with friends will forever stay in my heart.(208字)
