My favorite class is "The United States Congress in the Separation of Power System." I recommend taking this class for three main reasons. First, the course structure is rigorous and easy to understand. Personally, I usually dislike theoretical courses, especially about the American political system, because if you don’t understand the operational process, it’s easy to get lost. However, each session of this class is taught in a logical manner (source of law—historical background—basic functioning of power—case studies), so if you have any doubts, you can quickly identify what you don’t understand. Second, the exam burden is light. The grading in this course is very simple; you just need to participate in the final exam, and that generally determines your grade for the entire semester. The exam is usually 24 hours long and requires you to submit a 1000-word paper, with the option to refer to textbooks or online resources. The exam questions are also very flexible. Finally, the professor’s accent is very clear, so there are no issues with understanding due to a heavy accent.(182字)

The accommodation is basically not in the city center but very convenient. The dormitory is not far from the airport, and there is a direct bus to the airport. A five-minute walk will take you to the green metro line, which goes to the city center. The 191 bus next to the dormitory goes directly to the Andel shopping area, from where you can transfer to the yellow line to the Social Sciences campus at Jinonice. The dormitory’s public areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, are cleaned every weekday, and bed linens can be changed every two weeks. The dormitory also regularly cleans the curtains and windows. The dormitory facilities are comprehensive, with a student bar, student restaurant, piano room, and study room available for students. Additionally, the reception desk offers rental services for cleaning tools, irons, and oven racks, and can also receive packages (excluding paid services). The dormitory is secure, requiring a swipe card to enter the building.(160字)

I did not experience many cultural shocks, but the biggest one when I first arrived was the mixed-gender dormitories and the fact that the bathrooms were not separated by gender. The semi-transparent shower doors often made me feel very anxious while showering. However, after our school counselors negotiated, the bathrooms were separated by gender and keys were provided, so you can lock the main door while showering. In the second semester, the dormitory also completely covered the shower doors with stickers, so you can't see inside. There are also some minor cultural shocks, such as the small talk culture. Even if you don’t know the person, most of the time you will nod, smile, and greet each other and start a conversation. At first, I was really afraid of this culture, and it often happened in the kitchen, so I felt a lot of pressure every time I went to cook. However, after a trip to Portugal and Spain, my small talk skills improved, and I could naturally chat with my neighbors. So, I think the way to overcome this is to travel and practice speaking up. My advice to juniors is to try solo traveling, for three reasons. First, it can improve your English speaking skills. When you travel alone, you often have to rely on yourself, so when you encounter problems or need to ask questions, you have to speak English. It can be frustrating at times, but after a few attempts, you will find that your language sense improves and you are no longer afraid to speak. Second, you can enjoy time alone. If you need your own space, solo traveling is a great option. You can spend time with yourself, without worrying about your companions’ opinions, and arrange your schedule at your own pace, which is flexible and free. Third, it gives you a chance to break through your limits. I am personally very bad with directions and very afraid to ask strangers for directions, but I have successfully completed many trips, which I feel has helped me overcome my fears. (Of course, you can start with safer countries.) (268字)
